WATERGATE LENIENCY
(N.Z Press Assn —Copyright) WASHINGTON,-Mar. 11. United States District i Judge John Sirica has dismissed all charges against - the former White House aide, Gordon Strachan, in jthe Watergate cover-up at jthe request of the Special ■Prosecutor, Mr Leon JaIworski. I Strachan thus became only jthe second person charged {with Watergate offences to have gone free. The other, was Kenneth ■ Parkinson, a Sawyer for the ! Committee to Re-elect the ■ President who was acquitted i in January in the Watergate ! cover-up trial. The Watergate prosecutors “reluctantly” asked the court in a petition filed on Friday to drop the charges against Strachan. They cited a { “significant possibility” that Strachan’s claims to immunj ity would prevail on appeal, and added that he was {charged with “a more limited role” than others tried in jthe Watergate cover-up conispiracy.
