Wool prices up slightly
(N.Z. Press Association)
NAPIER, March 12,
Wool prices rose again at Napier today.
The market for full fleece and longer second-shear was in sellers’ favour, compared with the Wanganui sale last Friday. Lambs’ wool and oddments were unchanged, but bulky
skirtings were 2J to 5 per cent dearer.
Bidding throughout was animated, the main strength coming from the Continent, helped by Eastern Europe. New Zealand mills supported stronger crossbreds. The wool corporation bid on about 14 per cent and had 5 per cent passed to it. The fleece on the whole opened up quite well, apart from cottiness and discolouration. The lambs’ wool included some attractive lots.
