St Albans Park trees
Sir, — I agree with “Hearts of Oak” that the cutting of 23 mature oak trees in St Albans Park would be nothing short of vandalism. The interests of the sporting groups should only be considered in perspective. Unfortunately the pressures which such people can apply are considerable and I would ask that more thought be t : ven to the interests of the individual before the City Council rushes headlong into a decision. We saw in both Rolleston Avenue and Hagley Park examples of indecent haste on the part of the powers that be — both were sensitive issues. I would hate to see the descecration of such a large number of trees presented simply as fait accompli. — Yours etc., IMPACT REPORT. March 10, 1975.
