Clothes co-ordinate for the cool seasons

Co-ordination is the keynote of autumn and winter fashion for 1975.. Colour co-ordinated shirts, jerseys and skirts are an important feature for day wear. Also for evening, which is looking a lot less formal for the cooler seasons. Skinny little jerseys are combined with full or straight skirts, and ample or slim, the line of the skirt is fluid. lhe coat also has those floating, fluid lines, and as if to defy the prophets of doom, are trimmed with fur. Imitation it may be. but the look of luxury’ is there — lashings of it on cuffs, collars and hems. Fox and other fluffy furs have been adopted by the younger set and no-one is ashamed to admit to wearing fur fabric or imitation mink.

Ihe length is just below the knee or lower. Nobody’ minds much where it is as long as it is below the knee and not ankle length for day. Shoes are finer up front and heels are thick and just as high as ever. Roots are big news. Big boots up to the knees, disappearing under fluid skirts. Boots are high-heeled, too.

No clearly defined trend in colour, but red is important, and so too are the earth shades and rust.

Fabrics are fine and soft with a renewed interest in the woven textures which adapt well to the free fall of the fluid line. Clothes by courtesy of Beath and Co.
