Friday’s film
Friday night’s film is “The Glass Menagerie” made in 1950. Based on the Tennessee Williams’ Broadway hit which won the “best play of the year” award from New York drama critics, it stars Kirk Douglas, Jane Wyman and Gertrude Lawrence. It tells the story of a middle-class family consisting of a mother of great spirit; her crippled daughter whose only happiness is her collection of small animals; and a moody son who works in a warehouse but dreams of the sea. Their lives are all dramatically altered by the appearance of a “gentleman caller.”
