. WRONG CALLING . Your television critic A. IK. G. is a genius and as' such, wasting his precious' time on campaigning for the, replacement of awful pro-| grammes. He is worthy of a < better position, could he per-' haps heip out with the Ajax, advertisements? Had J' iknown the poor man’s past: as a nun etc., I would not: i have attacked him as vi- j ciously as I did in my pre-; [Vious letters. I cannot prom- ; ise. however, that it will not i happen again. In the mean-, time I sincerely hope Mr A. J K. Gee has found faith. —; E.W.

LOST BUFFALO I think D.M. was astray in ihis comments on “Now That I the Buffalo’s Gone.” It was |a documentary on the American Indian, not Marlon Brando. The title is a small insight into the ultimate tragedy of the plains Indian. There were 3,700,000 buffalo killed from 1872 to 1874 and of that number only 150,000 killed by Indians. In all it took less than 10 years to destroy the vast herds. Now the country is trying to save the remnants. Perhaps they have a guilt complex about what the “Great White Farmers” of Washington did. Everyone has been busily occupied with the plight of the Negroes in Ameria. It was not a bore to this viewer. The N.Z.B.C. could have more programmes like it instead of the pathetic "Westerns” where the motto is still “the only good injun is a dead injun.” Propaganda, bull. At last some people are speaking with a straight tongue and the truth is coming out. TSEN-TAINTE D.M.’s review of “The Buffalo” was unbelievable in its ignorance. Obviously he has never taken the trouble to find out the facts for himself and has stated his views on a subject he knows as much about as writing a T.V. review. Maybe if he found himself in the same position as the Indian of today still being persecuted in the so-called enlightened

.society, he would possibly I see things in a different I light. As for the programme being upstaged by “Amen lies.” after watching Alistair Cooke faithfully every week. 1 can honestly see he didn’t ! even scratch the surface of I what the white man has 'done to the Indian, If he had ;brought the real truth to the 'surface I doubt whether his .book would have been the best-seller that his programme made it. — P.M WATSON. ; Answer to correspondent.Pilgrim— Your second letter adds little to your first. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
