The Speaker of the House of Representatives (Mr Whitehead) has issued invitations to the wives of Opposition members of Parliament to attend the official opening of Parliament in Wellington on March 25. But according to Mr H. R. Lapwcod (Nat., Rotorua) Opposition members are still waiting for confirmation that Parliament will be officially opened on that day.
Members are normally advised several weeks beforehand of the opening date. “For the first time in 12 years as a member of , Paliatnent, I have been told by my wife when Parliament is to open,” he said. “Someone has fallen down on the job some- , where — or there must be a lack of communication between the Prime Minister's Office and the Speaker.”
