PROVEN SCOTS TEAM LIKELY
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) EDINBURGH.
Scotland can be expected to bring a wellbalanced and experienced team of proven Rugby players to New Zealand on its short tour in May and June.
In three matches this season the selectors have seen no need for any changes, and after Scotland’s 12-10 win over Wales at Murrayfieid at the week-end only injury could possibly warrant changes for the Calcutta Cup match with England at Twickenham on March 15.
All things being equal the Scottish team that rose to the occasion before a crowd in excess of 80,000 at the week-end will bear close resemblance to that which can be expected to meet the All Blacks in Auckland on June 14. It is a side built on forward strength, and a sound back-line with exceptional talents behind the scrum and at full-back. Particularly impressive is the manner in which the Scottish forwards peel away at the line-outs to take the tap from their lock, Alistair McHarg, standing at the back.
Doug Morgan is an enter-
prising half-back, who is a good penalty kicker, and the stand-off, lan McGeechan has scored with many drop-kicks this season.
The big Lions lock, Gordon Brown, is in top form, and David Leslie continues to impress as a very honest No. 8 who never lets up from harrassing opposing insidebacks.
Rugby league.—France beat Wales. 14-7, in their world Rugby league championship opening match at Toulouse.
