Byrd’s bust broken
WELLINGTON, March 3. A bronze busj of RearAdmiral E. Byrd vas ripped from its mountings and carried away from the Byrd Memorial on Mount Victoria on Saturday night The bust, which weighs almost 100 pounds, was found about 2 a.m. yesterday near the foot of the steps to the look-out on ton of Mount Victoria, and the finder brought it to ’the police inquiry office tn Taranaki Street. The monument to the American explorer, who died in 1957, was erected in 1962.
