Crothall profit falls 14.5 p.c.
The unaudited group net profit of Crothall and Company, Ltd. fell about 14.5 per cent to about $141,000, in the year to October 31, the directors announced in a preliminary report. In the 1973 year, the company’s result declined 5.7 per cent to $165,349. Considerable difficulty arose from the impact of Government policy on . wage increases, coupled with price control, said the chairman (Mr E. A. Crothall), This resulted in procedures which had not been adequately geared to the peculiar nature of service companies in general, and to the cleaning industry in particular. A final dividend of 3.25 c a 50c share (61 per cent), making an unchanged rate of 12J per cent for the year, will be paid on April 8, 1975, ex dividend March 18. This dividend will be paid from capital profits and is non-taxable in the hands of shareholders.
