BETTER WOOL DEMAND

The improvement in the demand for wool that has been evident at recent sales was maintained at the Christchurch sale yesterday. There was a better inquiry for the halfbred and Corriedale wools of medium to extra strong qualities, which predominated in the selection. About half of these went to the trade. In the sale room, 6157 bales, or 21.4 per cent of the offering, were passed to the Wool Marketing Corporation. At the last Christchurch sale more than a month ago more than 56 per cent of the wool iwas either passed or sold to jthe corporation. However, in terms of : values the halfbred and Cor'riedale wools improved only fractionally on the recent Timaru sale.
