16 increases since 1960
Petrol prices during the last 15 years, and the
amount of tax on each gallon, are listed below. Only regular grade petrol was available until 1961, and prices from then on are for premium-grade fuel. Deci-
mal currency was introduced in 1967.
The increase in tax in July, 1967, was the result of the introduction of the 3c a gallon tax for local bodies.
