Hedge-cutter kills
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Feb. 25. A young Hamilton man was killed almost instantly today when he was hit in the chest by a flying piece of metal thrown out by a hedgecutting machine. He was Mark Maurice Davies, aged 20, a fanner, of Newstead, near Hamilton. He was working about 60 yards from the tractoroperated hedge-cutter when he was hit. The. piece of cast-iron metal smashed into his chest, and the young man collapsed. A workmate rushed to his aid, but Mr Davies died within seconds.
