NOON FORECAST

Situation:

A depression centred north-east of Auckland is moving very slowly southeast. An anticyclone east of Otago extends a ridge of high pressure to the area south of the South Island and is moving slowly eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury' and Kaikoura Coast: Moderate winds mainly north-easterly. Mainly fine although remaining rather cool.

Marlborough Sounds: Strong south or south-east winds decreasing gradually. Cloudy and cool with further showers but some fair intervals developing during the day. Central Marlborough, Nelson, and Buller: Moderate to fresh easterly winds predominating. A few patches of light rain chiefly about the ranges, but mainly fine. Mild in central Marlborough. warm elsewhere. Westland: Moderate easterly winds predominating. Fine, warm in the afternoon.
