N.Z. draw with Indians
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE. The New Zealand hockey team struck form, holding India to a scoreless draw in Singapore yesterday. The New Zealanders will go to Malaysia tomorrow for the World Cup tournament. They fully stretched India, the runner-up in the last World Cup tournament, and were unlucky not to score from three chances when the forwards had the Indian defence completely beaten. India did not show the form with which it held the world champion, the Netherlands, to a 1-1 draw in its previous preparation match, The Indian attack floundered in front of the goal after many superb wing thrusts, and the team could not take advantage of 10 short corners awarded to it. Mr T. Palmer, the manager of the New Zealand team, which will have one more match before the tournament, against Argentina in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, said: “We showed that wo are reaching our best form and that we will be a serious threat in the World Cup.”
