TV swim carnival cancelled
■ The CHTV 3 carnival, which [haa been a major part of the Canterbury Swimming Centre a programme for many yean, has been cancelled thia season Tbe Chairman of the centre i 1 Mr D. R. Truscott) told the management committee of the decision last evening. The carnival *as *cheduled for Queen Elizabeth n p,rk Q * xt Saturday. ..Tbe internal reorganisation of the N.Z.B.C. and the cost of running the carnival to televise only a few events were prob»bly reasons for the cancellation Mr Truscott aaid But the centre had not received official notification that th « meeting would not be held and the Canterbury selectors had been *? tbe Proves* of drawing up fields. . Mark TreSers and Jaynle Parkhouse will be the men’s and women's captains of the Canterbury team at tbe national open championships on March S. 8, 7. and 8.
