Velocity test on golf balls

A velocity test on the 1.62 in and l-68in golf balls, to come into effect on January 1, is planned by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. Such a test would control the distance the bails might be hit, and bring the R. and A. and affiliated unions in line with the United States, where velocity for 1.68 in balls is limited.
