Pay hearing adjourned
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 25.
The State Services Tribunal has adjourned sine die an application to transfer existing staff salaries from the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation to the new corporations. The chairman (Mr N. R. Taylor, S.M.) said that clarification was needed on whether the tribunal had the jurisdiction to deal with the full application and on factors it needed to take into account.
Representatives of the Broadcasting Council and the Public Service Association were asked to submit legal argument. The chairman said he would make himself available to hear the application as soon as the two parties were ready because of the urgency in the matter.
TVI and Radio New Zealand will come into effect at the beginning of April, and TV2 a few months later.
