Town Hall box office sales
sales Sir, —May I point out to “Crochety” and 405 other people that a great deal of inconvenience is caused every year at the concerto competition concert by people who do not book seats before the evening of the performance. This year there were 406 door sales —about a quarter of the audience. It is most unfair to a young competitor to keep him waiting in the wings while late-comers are dealt with. It is also a discourtesy to the orchestra, the conductor and the rest of the audience. Perhaps in future everyone who has no genuine reason for waiting until the last moment will book seats in advance and arrive in time to be seated by 8 o’clock. Prospective subscribers to the next competition can approach the Christchurch Civic Music Council, and qualify for preferential booking—Yours, etc., R. W. HENDRY, Secretary, Christchurch Civic Music Council. February 21, 1975.
