Early starts for tennis
Television will begin earlier than usual on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to give coverage of the Davis Cup tennis tie between New Zealand and Australia at Auckland.
On these days “Grandstand” will also be covering another major sports event, the cricket test at Lancaster Park, and on Saturday afternoon there will be coverage of the national track and field championships from Dunedin. The times are:—
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28 12.30 p.m.: Davis Cup tennis—first round singles. 2.05 p.m.: Continuation of tennis, plus cricket from Lancaster Park. SATURDAY, MARCH 1
1.00 p.m.: Second day of the cup tennis, featuring doubles matches. 2.05 p.m.: Tennis, plus the second day’s play from the cricket test and the New Zealand athletics championships from Dunedin. SUNDAY, MARCH 2
12.00: Davis Cup tennis — final round of singles. 2.05 p.m.: Tennis and the third day’s play in the cricket test.
