GRECHKO IN INDIA
fN.Z P. A.Reuter—Copyright> NEW DELHI, February 24. The Soviet Defence Minister Marshal Andrei Grechko arrived in New Delhi today for talks on Indo-Soviet military cooperation, just as an announcement, was expected of an tkid to the United States arms embargo on Pakistan. The marshal, accompanied by a top Armed Forces dele-
gation, is almost certain to receive Indian requests for arms supplies during his fourday visit. Marshal Grechko will hold talks with the Prime Minister (Mrs Indira Gandhi), the Defence Minister (Mr Swaran Singh), the Foreign Minister (Mr Yashwantrao Chavan), and military chiefs. It seems certain that the United States will lift its arms embargo on Pakistan while Marshal Grechko is in the Indian capital. Marshal Grechko flew in on board a special aeroflot Ilyuschin-62, to be met by the Indian Defence Minister and the Chiefs of Staff. After inspecting a guard of honour from the Gurkha regiment, Marshal Grechko said that he had great pleasure in coming to “once more con-
firm the friendly relations existing between our people and our Armed Forces.”
