Claim for $300,000
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. A Papatoetoe couple are seeking 8300,000 damages from an Auckland anaesthetist in a writ filed in the Supreme Court at Auckland. Gay Patricia Goodchild is named as the first plaintiff in the writ, and her husband, John Goodchild, as second plaintiff. The defendant is named as Patrick Dermot Lawler. The statement of claim filed alleges professional negligence during a gall bladder operation in December, 1973. Mrs Goodchild suffered a cardiac arrest and severe brain damage resulted. The statement claims that Mrs Goodchild will be defendant uoon others for all of her everyday activities for the rest of her life. i A statement of defence has mot yet been filed with the ; court.
