RANDOM REMINDER
IT’S ALL IN THE MIND
A woman we know has a fur coat. She is proud of it. She looks good in it. It is a good fur coat. This same woman has a daughter. The daughter also has a fur coat. She does not look good in it. It is not a good fur coat. It is a very old fur coat, full of holes and almost falling to pieces, which the daughter used to wear for purposes of warmth when riding her motor scooter. The daughter went overseas. She did not wish to take her decrepit fur coat with her, so she
left it in the mother's wardrobe. She did not tell the mother she had done this. The mother went to the Town Hall to an orchestral concert. She wore a fur coat. She felt good in this fur coat. There were lots of other women at the concert, all wearing fur coats. The mother felt she could hold her own with any of them. There is nothing, she thought to herself, like a fur coat to keep your morale up and make you feel good at orchestral concerts. A trip to the orchestra wearing a
fur coat, she decided, was the perfect cure for suburban neurosis. After the concert she went home. She took off her fur coat to hang it up in her wardrobe. She opened her wardrobe. There, neatly dependent from its hanger was a nice fur coat; her fur coat. She looked more closely at the coat she had worn. It was old, full of holes, decrepit. It looked like the sort of fur coat someone might wear to keep warm on a motor scooter. It was.
