Automatic bed
A bed which goes up and down, tilts at the top and bottom, and turns a patient automatically has been developed in New Zealand. The first of the production models will be presented to Burwood Hospital by the New Brighton Lions next week.
The multi-purpose bed can be used for patients with spinal injuries, skin grafts, or in geriatric work. It took three years for the bed to be developed jointly jby the University of Canter|bury, a North Island firm that makes hospital beds, and ia local engineering firm. It jhas a device which can be (set to turn a patient at inter(vals automatically. Skin graft i patients will be able to be amoved without being touched by hand.
