Smash and grab raid
In a smash and grab raid on Holmes Brothers Jewellers, King Street, Temuka, on Tuesday thieves took 12 watches valued at $284 and broke a window which will cost $lBO to replace. The licensee of the Royal Hotel, Mr Kevin Tarrant, who lives opposite, heard glass splintering just before midI night and saw two men run down Commerce Street. The police have recovered [ 10 of the 12 watches, valued at $226. They had been hidden under a culvert.
