Fertiliser, lime bounty scheme
The procedure to be followed for payments under the special bounty scheme for fertiliser and lime, including dolomite and serpentine, have been announced by the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr A. T. Johns. To qualify, spreading must be carried out between January 24 and June 30. “The bounty of $7.50 per tonne of fertiliser or $2 per tonne of lime spread by aerial and ground con-
tractors will be allowed as a credit on the contractor’s invoice to the farmer,” said Dr Johns. “The contractors will be reimbursed by the Ministry. “Farmers who do the spreading themselves on their own farms can claim the bounty of $5 per tonne of fertiliser or $1 per tonne of lime through any Ministry office. Claim forms will be available shortly. “In the case of mixtures of fertiliser and lime, only the fertiliser bounty will be payable where the fertiliser represents 75 per cent of more of the mixture. Where the fertiliser is less than 75 per cent the bounty will be calculated proportionately on the appropriate rates for fertiliser and lime. For example, the bounty on a mixture of 50/50 super and: lime would be $4.75 per* tonne if applied by a con-i tractor and $3 per tonne if self-spread by the farmer.; “Where fertiliser andl lime are spread separately! the bounty rates for each; will apply,” concluded Dr Johns.
