Volkswagen Polo
Volkswagen will soon announce its smallest car: a 900 c.c. two-door saloon named the Polo, the Press Association reports. The car, a five-seater with a “hatch-back” rear door, will be a utility version of the Audi 50 “mini,” and will cost about as much as a Volkswagen “Beetle.” The car’s rear seat can be folded to give station-waggon load capacity.
Overseas magazines say that the Polo is about two inches shorter than a Hillman Imp, and has a top speed of 80 m.p.h. The engine is an overhead camshaft unit, and is mounted transversely, driving the front wheels.
