Queensland is still a frontrunner to take its first Sheffield Shield for interstate cricket, despite a crushing 179-run loss to New South [Wales on Wednesday.
Magnificently led by Greg Chappell, Queensland has 73 points from seven of its i scheduled eight matches. Its [nearest challenger is Western Australia, with 59 points [from six games. New South Wales has 53, [Victoria 49, and South Australia 39, from five games ieach.
