PORT STILL BUSY
Shipping congestion at Lyttelton eased slightly on Wednesday, but port labour and resources were still heavily stretched, according to the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s traffic manager (Mr J. B. Graham).
There will be little respite this week, on present programming, Mr Graham says. There was still a shortage of 238 men at 7 a.m. yesterday. Engaged then were 421 unionists, 15 nonunionists, and 33 crew members.
