Restriction on bridge
The Helmores Lane bridge would remain in a safe condition for light traffic for some years, said the City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular), in a letter received by the Waimairi County Council last evening. Mr Scoular said he had inspected the bridge. The 1 restriction on its use by iheavy vehicles should be retained. The replacement of two decayed stringers would be desirable, but it would be “a tricky job” unless the decking were removed.
The council agreed to a joint restriction with the Christchurch City Council, imposing a gross weight limit of 2000 kg for the bridge.
