Two share pro-am golf

The unattached Auckland professional, Alan Snape, and another Aucklander, Wayne Mclntosh, shared victory In the 36hole $lOOO pro-am tournament at the Nelson Golf Club yesterday. Snape and the 18-year-old Nelson professional, Peter Hamblett, were tied overnight with four-under 68s, but Hamblett’s game dropped away badly mid-way through the second round. Tn three holes he conceded five shots
land had an eight at the newly-extended par-5 tenth. Hamblett recovered later and finished with birdies at the last two holes. His late run was not sufficient to overcome the steadiness of Snape and Mclntosh. A Nelson club amateur, John Betts, with net rounds of 71 and 71, won his section of the tournament. Best scores were:— Professionals.—Snape, 68. 74— 142; Mclntosh, 68. 73—141; W. Branthwaite, 73 , 70—143; R. Coombes, 73, 71—144; Hamblett, 68, 78—146; M. W. Moynihan. 73, 73—146; B. Vivian. 73. 73—146. Amateurs (net).—Betts, 71, 71— 142; R. Calder, 73, 71—144.
