Japanese visit
A Japanese orchestra, the Ensemble Nipponia, will visit New Zealand in March to give concerts in Wellington on March 10, and Auckland on March 11. It is a group of leading composers and musicians who play classical and modem Japanese music on traditional instruments.
The group has performed frequently overseas since 1972. It would be the first time authentic music of Japan had been heard in New Zealand, said Mr A. Hilton, president of the Music Federation.
The ensemble’s visit to New Zealand will be the first in what the Governments of both countries hope will be a continuing programme of cultural exchanges.
