Seaman drowns at beach
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, Jan. 26. An able seaman from the freighter Port Nicholson, now at Napier, was drowned at Waipatiki Beach, 25 miles north of Napier, today. He was Gerald Johansen, aged 30, single, a Norwegian living in England. A sudden rip developed and Mr Johansen was among about a dozen who got into difficulties, about 50 yards from the beach.
