Road blocked
Slips blocked the Arthur’s Pass route to the West Coast yesterday morning, but by about 1.30 p.m. the road had been opened to one-lane traffic at the two trouble spots. The slips, brought down by an early morning north-west storm, blocked the road at Candys Cutting and at Wardens Creek, just outside Arthur's Pass township.
