Win for Hurricane Star as rivals crash at Forbury
A bad smash near the straight entrance assisted Hurricane Star to gain her fifth win of the season in the Dunedin Handicap at Forbury Park last evening.
Only Hurricane Star and' King's Row escaped trouble ■ in the mix-up which resulted in the favourite. Armbro i Circle breaking and going! back on top of Fuse, which fell. Ken Robertson, driver of Stereo Light, which was tracking Fuse, was tossed from the sulky into that of Approved. Glentohi veered towards the outside of the track, but kept his feet. Hurricane Star and King’s Row were close together over the final 200 m with Hur-; ncane Star doing best to win! by a neck. Hurricane Star is unlikely; to race much longer. She is! thought to be in foal and it is expected that she will be retired from racing in a few weeks. At the time of the mix-up* Armbro Circle looked to be pacing quite comfortably, but, whether he would have been! able to withstand the ex-! pected challenge from the! noted mudlark Fuse, is argu-! able. Fuse, too, looked to bey going particularly well. Stipendiary stewards held: an inquiry lasting more than
an hour before placings were confirmed. LED ALL WAY I Chatterton revelled in the sloppy track conditions and led from end to end in the Kew Pace. He was always travelling easily and had far
I too much pace for his rivals : winning comfortably by three lengths. The consistent three-year-old filly Golden Nurse aftef j being back on the rails finished gamelv to cut Lady Hodgen out of second place 'by half a length.
I Hallmaster after being ’ fairly handy mostly, was pushed very wide racing to the straight. He could not quicken from then on and (was beaten off in fourth * place, ahead of Mighty Tuft.
