Non-arrival of bands
Sir, —Mr Robin Moore, of the Christchurch Entertainment Bureau, should get his facts correct about the number of times bands booked through his bureau have not arrived at dances. In March of this year the Cheviot Play Centre booked a band through him for the Cheviot show night dance. Non-arrival of this band caused considerable upset. We were perhaps fortunate that the crowd was not as large as it would have been at Methven, but an angry milling crowd of any size is not pleasant. He offered to bring a band up free of charge for another dance but we would not have had the same attendance, as most of the teen-agers were only home from school for that week-end. so he gave us a cash donation (eventually). However, the point is, the Methven dance organisers are not the first people to be let down by Mr Moore and his bureau and may well not be the last.—Yours, etc., PATRICIA HEWETT, Cheviot Play Centre.
Dec. 15. 1974. [Mr Robin Moore, manager of the Christchurch Entertainment Bureau, replies: “He who does not make mistakes sprouts wings and flies away.”]
