Manslaughter charge

Five Ngaruawahia youths were charged with manslaughter when they appeared in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court, after the death of a 17-year-old freezing worker on Thursday. Tainui Tamati, aged 20, Isaac Tamati, 16, Gary Edmonds, 17, Nicholas Patrick Monsall, 15, and Wayne Robert Richards, 20, entered no plea to the charge of the manslaughter of Eddie Gilbert Moana.
They also entered no plea to a charge of assaulting Mr Moana.
Mr J. E. Millar, S.M., remanded them all on bail to January 17 for the taking of depositions.
