Two cruises cancelled
(X Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND.
The need for maintenance on the cruise liners Ocean Monarch and Northern Star has caused the shipping line to cancel two of its January South Pacific cruises from Auckland. The departure times of two subsequent cruises are also affected. The work, said to be of a relatively minor nature by the line’s sales manager in Auckland (Mr D. Cooper) will be done in Sydney. He said the turbines needed work done on them. The cruises cancelled are those which should have left Auckland on January 19 (Ocean Monarch, nine days), and on January 21 (Northern Star, 19 days). The Northern Star will leave instead on January 23 for Sydney via the Bay of Islands.
A 16-day cruise by the Ocean Monarch will now not leave from Auckland on January 28. Instead, passengers will be flown to Sydney at the firm’s expense for the February trip from that port.
The Northern Star’s 16-day cruise from Auckland on February 9 will be delayed two days, until February 11, and reduced to 14 days with reduction in cost.
