SOBERS IN TRIALS

BRIDGETOWN (Barbados). The Barbados cricket selectors have included Sir Garfield Sobers, the former West Indies captain, among 33 players to take part in a series of trial matches for the national Shell Shield team.
Peter Lashley, a veteran Shell Shield player, was also invited to lead the Barbarian team in the absence of David Holford, the all-rounder who is presently studying in the United States.
Barbados, the champions, will meet Trinidad in Port of Spain on March 14 in the opening match of the 1975 tournament, per cent.”
Hockey.— England gained a 2-1 victory over Malaysia in a hockey international disrupted by driving rain in London. Rain forced the teams to leave the pitch at one stage.
