Flash floods in Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 13. A sudden downpour last night thoroughly drenched some Auckland suburbs and caused flooding in several areas. No extensive damage was reported. Carpets and curtains in the Capitol Theatre, Dominion Road, were damaged when rain water creeped into the front of the cinema, but the showing of the film “Let the Good Times Roll” was not interrupted. The areas that appeared worst hit by the downpour were Mount Albert, Avondale, Mount Eden, Balmoral, Sandringham and Onehunga. Several stretches of road in these districts were under water up to three feet deep.
