Cathedral ‘scandal’
A Welsh vicar has attacked an appeal launched for the renovation of Canterbury Cathedral by the Archbishop of Canterbury, calling it a “scandal.” The Rev. Christopher Gwilliam, said that more than sl.7m of the $6.2m appeal was to be spent on stained glass at Canterbury. “How can the Church hope to maintain any sort of credibility among the hungry nations when its leader initiates this sort of extravagance?” said Mr[ Gwilliam.—London, Jan. 10. |
