Industrials and some miners rise in Aust.
Australian industrial stock markets dosed on a generally stronger note in subdued trading conditions yesterday. Mining issues were down, but uraniums, and nickels advanced.
BHP, which intends to make a debenture issue, remained unchanged at 520 c.
Pancontinental rose to 340 c and Kathleen gained 7c at 77c.
WMC rose 5c at 165 c, and BH South jumped 15c under strong buying support. Emperor, GMK, PekoWallsend, and EZ Industries, were weaker. EZ Industries
is reducing zinc output at Risdon by 20 per cent. MIM, Bougainville, and AMS were others to drift to lower levels. Endeavour, Timor, Weeks and AAR firmed along with lOL, but WooAside-Burmah was a cent cheaper.
The banks attracted continued buying interest and showed further rises. Tooth, CUB, Hooker, and Jennings were higher. Amatil gained 3c at 120 c and Elders GM 5c at 145 c. Stores and retailers were slightly better. Commercial Union picked up 2c at 25c. CSR was 6c better at 406 c, but Comalco, and ICI Australia were easier.
