Escape from launch
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, January 12. Two occupants and their dog escaped in a dinghy from their 22ft launch which caught fire and burned to the water line this morning about half a mile off Tryphena, Great Barrier Island. A speedboat from Tryphena picked up the shocked couple while an Orion aircraft cruised overhead. It is believed that the fire started when one of those on board was lighting a stove.
