No Ford sackings
The Australian manager of the Ford Motor Company (Mr Brian Inglis) has denied reports that the company intends to reduce its work force by 3000 in the next two months. But he said the company might have to stop replacing workers who left the company. — Canberra, January 12. Gas patent removed Details of how to make VX, a deadly nerve gas, are no longer available to the public at the Union Patent Office, reports the “Sunday Times,” of London. A week ago it reported that the patent for the gas had been taken off the secret list, and was freely available. The Defence Department has now removed the information from the Patent Office’s files. — London. January 12. Iran doubles loan
Iran was doubling the money it was giving France for industrial co-operation, including nuclear power plants and making enriched uranium, French officials said. Iran has granted the French Atomic Energy Commission a loan of s76om for construction of a uranium enrichment plant, in addition to a similar sum deposited with the Bank of France as an advance payment for other schemes. — Paris, January 12. Concorde rumour Pan American World Airways has refused to say whether it is discussing with Iran a deal to buy AngloFrench Concorde supersonic airliners. A spokesman for the airline said it had been discussing financial matters with Iran since September, but he was not prepared to give details. He denied that Pan American planned to lease two Concordes from, Iran. — New York, Jan. 13. i
