Dido crew paid off
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Dec. 9. Sixteen crew of the Northern Steam Ship Company . freighter Dido, the last of the line’s three ships to be taken [out of service, were paid off [in Auckland today. The Dido, the Tainui 11, and the Moanui, are laid up at Auckland. The withdrawal of the Dido and the two other ships will mean the loss of about 100 seafaring jobs, according to her master (Captain J. D. Turner).
