SOUTHERN QUINELLA
Second leg at Addington
Southland stables quinellaed the New Brighton Stakes, the second leg of the main double at Addington Raceway on Saturday. Parlez Vous, one of the backmarkers on 20m, got up to beat the pacemaking Forto Prontezza by half a length, with Commissioner well beaten in third position.
Parlez Vous raced back beyond the middle of the field until near the 800 m. He then began to improve and was handy to Forta Prontezza and Illusionist racing to the straight. From then on he was not extended.
Parlez Vous was driven by the 19-year-old, A. D. Milne, who earlier in the night had his first race drive on Addington Raceway behind Ho Ho King in the Festival Stakes.
Forta Prontezza, having only his third race start, showed ability far above average by holding on for second behind such a talented colt as Parlez Vous. The second favourite, Steven Stock, was knocked out of the race when Happy King broke at the start and locked sulky wheels with him.
