Camera lost by visitor

Alfons Vermeulen, of Gouda, the Netherlands, has just spent nine weeks having a look at New Zealand.

He arrived in Christchurch about 9 a.m. on Saturday. Soon after arriving in Cathedral Square, where he sat on a seat enjoying the morning quietness, Mr Vermeulen went into the Central Post Office to collect two letters from home. When he returned to his seat in the Square his camera was missing. Mr Vermeulen says it is not so much the camera but the loss of the 36 pictures in it, which, he said, contain some of his best views of life in New Zealand. He leaves for Australia today.
