Drought at Te Anau
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON.
The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Moyle) will be asked to declare the Te Anau basin a drought relief area, as a result of an inspection of the stricken farmlands in the basin on Friday by a drought relief committee.
The Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Mr Taiboys), who was a member of the committee, said tonight he was convinced after the inspection that fanners in the area were in “very considerable difficulty.” He would see the Minister in Wellington on Tuesday in an effort to get Government help for Te Anau farmers.
