U.S.food ‘not weapon’
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) PHOENIX (Arizona). President Ford said that the United States would not use its fo.od resources as a weapon. He told a press conference that it must be realised, however, that food was just as important in the world as oil. The United States, as the world’s greatest source of food, and oil producers should get together and cooperate to make cure that whatever was available in both resources was made available for the benefit of all people. The President added that Secretary of State (Dr Henry Kissinger) had brought together a group of oilconsuming nations. “We expect,” he said, “to work with the oil-producing nations. I believe there can be an understanding achieved that will be to the mutual benefit of the producers in food and oil and to consumers in both.”
