Long journey
The United States spaceship Pioneer II on an exploratory voyage of the planets has passed within the orbit of Jupiter’s four outer moons on a voyage that will take it to Saturn, mission controllers said. The spaceship will pass within 26,000 miles of Jupiter’s highly radioactive cloud surface on December 2, and take the first, pictures of the huge planet’s north and south poles. — Mountain View (California), November 17, ?
